PADDY, IRISH TERRIER EXTRAORDINAIRE

Paddy was my brother's Irish Terrier who died after a thankfully shortish struggle with cancer in the autumn 2023.  He was such a special soul and my brother, Pete, and his family were incredibly close to him so his death has been a big loss as he has left a significant Paddy-shaped hole in their lives.

Having moved to Wales just over a year ago, I was able to get to know Paddy better on the walks in the Elan Valley and Gilfach Nature reserve near Rhayader.  He was such a jolly soul and people were often inspired to stop and pet him and talk because he had such an appealing character and it was so easy to connect with him.

I decided to paint this watercolour as a Christmas gift to Pete and Kate in honour of dear 'ol Paddy.  I chose watercolour as a medium as he was such a softy and the flow of the medium seemed the most appropriate.

May you rest in peace, dear Paddy.
