About Delia

I work with mixed media in an experimental way, with colour, texture, and a deep connection with nature as my guides and inspiration, revealing what's possible when combining materials in different ways. Using acrylic, watercolour, and other media, including collage, I cultivate relationships with my subjects by creating a sense of the image while also allowing for my own creative expression.

My love for walking in nature, whether hills or coastline, brings me endless inspiration with its beauty and drama. For the more intimate works, I love the different shapes and quirky characters of birds and enjoy watching them when I’m working or relaxing in the garden. Still life subjects enable me to explore the colour palettes that call to me and allow me to express particular feelings and ideas in the moment.

“Painting from nature is not a matter of copying the subject, but of expressing one’s feelings.”

— Paul Cezanne

I am also a very enthusiastic mosaicist, which has provided a new dimension to, and understanding of, my explorations of colour and texture. I create 2D and 3D pieces for both indoors and the garden using a mix of ceramic and glass tiles, crockery, china, beads and coloured glass.
